The Student Scholarly Association of Food Economics has cooperated closely for several years and operates at the Department of Macroeconomics and Agricultural Economics at the Faculty of Economics at Poznań University of Economics and Business.
Its members are mainly students enrolled in Food Economy and Biobusiness programme, however the Association is open to the cooperation of people from different scientific backgrounds.
As students and members of the Scholarly Association we focus primarily on academic work. We put a strong emphasis on the economic aspects of the agriculture. We view agriculture problems through prism of macroeconomic categories, which allows us to understand economic processes and to conclude from them.
In the first place we are economists, with a variety of research and scientific interests, among which the most important thematic areas are:
- macroeconomics, food economics,
- functioning of the food economy in Poland, the European Union and in the world,
- functioning of agricultural markets in local and global scale;
- Poland's integration with the European Union.
In SSA - for the needs of articles and Master or Bachelor theses, students conduct their own research, e.g. market of sugar, beer, analysis of the cocoa sector, economic research on municipalities, counties, voivodships, research in the agricultural insurance market, biofuels, agricultural income. The results of our research are presented at symposia in the European Union institutions in Brussels and at numerous national and international conferences.
