CfP: Paper Development Workshop for Young Scholars

Paper Development Workshop for Young Scholars

Kaunas, Lithuania, 25 September 2019

This paper development workshop (PDW) seeks to provide developmental opportunities for late stage PhD students and early career scholars who are based in the Central and Eastern Europe and do research in the field of organizational and management studies. The PDW aims to help participants develop their academic writing. It also seeks to increase participants’ awareness of the requirements, expectations, and procedures involved in the review processes at peer-reviewed academic journals through presentations and first-hand discussion with experienced authors and journal editors.

In addition, the best papers developed out of the workshop will have the opportunity to be considered for publication in the Journal of East European Management Studies (JEEMS), which “aims to promote the development, advancement and dissemination of knowledge about management issues in Central and East European countries”.

The PDW will consist of two parts. First, in an introductory session Thomas Steger (JEEMS Editor-in-Chief) will discuss the development process of papers relevant for young researchers who aim to publish in JEEMS or other management journals. Second, during the main session, authors of the selected papers will have an opportunity to present their main findings, which will be followed by developmental feedback from invited experienced authors and editors.

The workshop is free of charge. It is also open for young scholars who are not registered for the AIB-CEE Conference in parallel.

To be considered for the PDW, please submit an extended abstract (of 2.000 words in maximum) of a paper, which you would like to discuss and develop during the workshop. The abstract must include an explanation as to the purpose of the paper, the theoretical background, the paper’s main contributions and, for empirical papers, the methodological approach.

The deadline for the submission of applications is July 31st, 2019. Please, send your application to Thomas Steger (thomas.steger@ur.de).

Submitters will be informed whether they have been accepted for participation in the PDW by August 31st, 2019.
