Department of Technology and Instrumental Analysis

The Department conducts scientific research on the formation and assessment of the quality of food, cosmetics and household chemical products, covering issues from the natural and social sciences. The research subject comprises the development of innovative materials and products, assessment of physicochemical, functional properties and interactions of product components, including surfactants and antioxidants, assessment of product quality and safety, development of innovative quality control methods, and issues related to the use of new technologies. An important area is studying consumer determinants of product quality and sustainable consumption, including consumer decision support and ensuring a balanced diet.

About the Department

The Department has high-class laboratory equipment used for research work and in the teaching process. Research is conducted within the framework of many projects and in cooperation with national and foreign centres. The Department staff continuously improve the content and forms of knowledge transfer to students. It constitutes the place of realisation of many interesting diploma theses and activities of scientific circles. The Department of Technology and Instrumental Analysis was established in 2012 as a result of the merger of the Department of Technology and Environmental Protection and the Department of Instrumental Methods of Quality Assessment.
