Borrowing books

The Lending Library  offers 3 types of books, depending on their purpose:

• extended loan (W)
• short loan (WP) – orange sticker

*For students pursuing more than one course of study at PUEB, there is an increased limit of 50 books to be borrowed.
**Only applies to books with the letter W next to the signature.
***The deadline for returning books can be extended in person at the Lending Library or online after logging in to a reader’s account 7 days before the original return date (only possible if the account is still valid for more than 90 days).

How can I extend the return deadline?

• online – after logging in to your Reader Account, at the earliest 7 days before the original return date. Your Reader Account must still be valid for more than 90 days,

• at the Lending Library

The system applies charges for late return of borrowed books (PLN 0.20 per volume for each 24 hours).

 

Borrowing books from the Reading Room – a benefit for PUEB employees and PhD students :

• place your request online through the Library’s online catalogue,
• pick up and return requested books at the Lending Library,
• in order to use this service, you must have an active Reader Account,
• you can request a book with an active Request/Reserve button in the catalogue. After clicking on it, the system will ask you to log in to your existing account and confirm your request or reservation:
  – you can request a publication when it has the status “available”,
  – you can reserve a publication when it is borrowed from the Reading Room by another user (it has the status: “on loan” or “borrowed by a PUEB employee”),
• Reading Room book lending limits:|
  – PUEB research and academic employee: 20 loans for 30 days with the possibility of 10 extensions, provided that another user has not reserved the item,
  – other PUEB employee: 5 loans for 30 days with the possibility of 10 extensions, provided that another user has not reserved the item,
  – PUEB PhD student: 20 loans for 30 days with the possibility of 10 extensions, provided that another user has not reserved the item,

• The ready-to-collect books will be waiting for you for 3 days in the Lending Library. If you do not collect them within this period, they will be returned to the shelf in the Reading Room.
