The Library Council

Structure and powers of the Library Council with regard to the procedure for its appointment

In accordance with the Statute of the Poznań University of Economics and Business:

  1. The Library Council is a consultative body of the Rector in matters concerning the library and information system.
  2. The Library Council consists of:
    1) four representatives of the staff of the Main Library;
    2) representatives of academic staff indicated by the Director of an institute, one from each institute;
    3) a representative of the Center For Foreign Languages, designated by the Head of the Center;
    4) a representative of the Students’ Council, appointed in accordance with the regulations of the council;
    5) a representative of the PhD Student’s Council, chosen in the manner laid down in the regulations of the council.
  1. The Library Council elects from among its members and presents one or more candidates for the Chair of the Council to the Rector. The Chairperson is appointed by the Rector.
  2. Meetings of the Council may be attended, with an advisory role, by the Director of the Main Library.
  3. The tasks of the Library Council include in particular:
    1) providing opinions on the activities of the Main Library and submitting proposals to the Rector;
    2) proposing new directions for library and information activities adapted to the educational and scientific activities of the University;
    3) providing opinions on proposals for the staffing of executive positions in the Main Library;
    4) providing opinions on the reports of the Director of the Main Library submitted to the Senate and the Rector;
    5) providing opinions on proposals of the Director of the Main Library on matters related to the organisation and development of the library and information system;
    6) providing opinions on draft regulations concerning the Main Library and draft amendments to these regulations.
  1. The Chair of the Library Council may invite the heads of the Main Library departments to meetings as advisors.
  2. The tenure of the Library Council shall expire together with the tenure of the University authorities.
