VII Collegium Altum Staircase Run
On 26 November 2023, runners will run up to the 17th floor of the Collegium Altum for the seventh time. This is the highest finish line in Greater Poland (total height 103.35 m). There are 372 steps to overcome! This is the highest situated finish line in Poznań.
The record for the competition among men was set in 2018 by. Mateusz Marunowski from Jaworzno (01:20) and in the same year Ilona Gradus from Warsaw became the new record holder in the women’s category (01:56). Honorary patronage is held by the Rector of the University of Economics, the Mayor of Poznań and the Chief of Police.
This year will see the seventh edition of the Collegium Altum Stair Run. Due to the specific nature of the run, we have set a limit of 150 people. The partner of the Run is the AZS Academic Club of the Poznań University of Economics. The honorary starter will traditionally be the Rector of the UEP, Professor Maciej Żukowski.
* During this year’s edition, we want to commemorate the late Janusz Grzeszczuk, the doyen of Wielkopolska running and educator of many runners currently holding professorial titles,” recalls the originator and director of the run, Przemysław Walewski. – The Master, as we used to say and still say about him, was the honorary starter of many editions of our run. We have decided to commemorate Master Janusz Grzeszczuk on the medal in a special way.
It is fractions of a second that decide the winner, the runner-up. The final race is always held at a very high level, and in each edition many debutants appear at the starting line to get a taste of the new running emotions.
The competition at Collegium Altum is of championship rank. The run will include the seventh edition of the Polish Student Championships and the Polish Academic Teachers’ Championships in towerrunning. The Wielkopolska Cup of Uniformed Services will be held. Policemen will compete in the 7th Police Stair Running Championships under the patronage of Police Commander-in-Chief, General Insp. Jarosław Szymczyk, and firefighters of the State Fire Service and Voluntary Fire Service will compete in the 5th Wielkopolska Firefighters’ Championships for the Wielkopolska State Fire Service Provincial Commander Cup.
