Distributed ledger technologies (DLT), and particularly blockchain, have attracted growing interest from public institutions and private organizations worldwide for several years. The publication describes how blockchain-based solutions can be applied in public business registers in Europe, taking into account the diverse legal and administrative environments. The researchers concentrate not only on technological aspects but also on the regulatory and organizational conditions that determine the feasibility of effective implementation.

The authors conducted both a review of the scientific literature and case studies related to selected registry systems in various European Union countries. Their work aims to create a framework to assist decision-makers in choosing and adapting the appropriate type of blockchain technology. This multifaceted process required consideration of a variety of factors—from issues of security, scalability, and transparency to challenges in personal data protection and compatibility with the regulations in different countries.

The research results indicate the potential of blockchain technology to enhance the transparency and security of public databases, as well as the necessity to balance the benefits of decentralization with legal and organizational requirements. The article also presents a list of potential risks, such as the threat of DDoS attacks and challenges related to privacy protection, underscoring the need for further research in this area. In the next steps, the researchers intend to develop the proposed solutions further, expanding them with more detailed analyses of implementation costs and more in-depth studies on compliance with new EU regulations and standards.
