Polish-German research grant implemented by the Department of Public Finance

Dr hab. Małgorzata M. Hybka, prof. PUEB, dr Monika Banaszewska and dr Aneta Chodakowska will implement in a Polish-German project team a grant entitled “Social media and their role in local politics. A Comparative Study of Poland and Germany.” The project received funding from the Polish-German Foundation for Science (DPWS). It will run from October 2022 to September 2025 in cooperation with the University of Kassel and the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów. Dr hab. Małgorzata M. Hybka, prof. PUEB, serves as the project coordinator on behalf of PUEB.

The project aims to help answer the question of what social media are – a bridge between citizens and the state, a platform for information exchange, an instrument for polarizing views, or a source of social consensus.

The team of researchers will also check the role of social media in increasing public participation in public life and what experience local governments have in using them.
