Registration for classes/courses

Throughout their studies, students of Bachelor programmes have to register for Sports, Foreign language, and elective courses. Students of Bachelor in Business Administration have to choose a speciality, too. Students of Master programmes have to register for elective courses only.

There is no need to register for other courses.

Registration

    Elective courses

In the summer semester, students choose elective courses for their next academic year. The courses are listed in syllabus, where each option is described. The number of courses differs between majors and semesters. The ultimately chosen elective course(s) is obligatory for the whole group. It’s a vote of majority.

Where? USOS / log in / Student’s section / Registrations / Registration for courses / click on the appropriate registration round / find the appropriate course / click on the shopping cart with a green arrow icon next to the chosen course

For elective courses in the 1st semester of studies (Finance*), the voting takes place during recruitment process and/or 1st week of classes. For elective courses in the 2nd semester of studies, the voting takes place in the 1st semester.

*In the winter semester 2025/2026, by the vote of majority during recruitment process, it’s Philosophy with elements of logic.

    Seminar

In Poland, Bachelor- and Master-level studies end with an individually taken oral exam based on a dissertation (thesis). ‘Seminar’ or ‘Diploma seminar’ is a course designed to assist you with writing your dissertation. Before the first semester in which seminar course starts*, each student is assigned to a teacher (thesis supervisor, PL: promotor).

To get assigned to a thesis supervisor, you should check the seminar offer first, narrow the list down to the ones you’re interested in, then ask (via e-mail) the thesis supervisors if they would let you join their seminar group. When you receive a permission from a supervisor, you register in USOS** in their seminar yourself, and inform other supervisors you’ve asked for permission that you’re no longer interested in their groups.

Classes of each seminar group are not published in the class schedule. At the beginning of each semester with a seminar course, you should contact your thesis supervisor to ask when and where would your seminar group meet.

*Students of BBA and FIN programmes register for seminar groups in their 3rd semester, MIB and IM – in the 1st, QF – in the 2nd.

Sports (1st year of Bachelor studies only)

Sports is an obligatory course for Bachelor students in the 1st and 2nd semester of studies. The course ends in two grades: pass or fail.

It’s a joint course for students of Bachelor in Business Administration and Finance programmes. There are usually 2-3 options to choose from, all listed in class schedules. It’s an individual choice, meaning that even if you are the only BBA student in Gym (the rest of the Gym class is FIN students), while the rest of BBA group splits into Tennis (+ FIN) and Aerobic with dance elem. (+ FIN) – it’s fine. You can change the Sports group in the 2nd semester.

Foreign language (1st year of Bachelor studies only)

Foreign language is an obligatory course for Bachelor students from 2nd to 5th semester of studies. Once chosen, there is no option to change the language throughout these four semesters.

It’s a joint course for students of Bachelor in Business Administration and Finance programmes. Currently, there are 3 options to choose from, all listed in class schedules and syllabus (German, Spanish, Polish as a foreign language). There are maximum and minimum limits of students per language group, therefore, usually there are three language groups per year.

The choice takes place during recruitment process and/or October of the 1st semester.

It’s an individual choice, meaning that if you are the only BBA student in the Polish class (the rest – FIN), while other BBA students split between German (+FIN) and Spanish (+FIN) – it’s fine.

All language groups start from A0/A1 level, therefore you cannot choose the group of your mother tongue, e.g. Polish citizens are not allowed to sign up for Polish language course for beginners, Germans – for German etc.
