About Institute of Informatics and Quantitative Economics
The Institute of Informatics and Quantitative Economics is a continuation of the best traditions and achievements of the Faculty of Informatics and Quantitative Economics, which functioned first at the Academy of Economics and then at the Poznań University of Economics and Business from 2006 to 2019. The Institute launched its activities on 1 October 2019. Its solid foundation is based on the same organisational units that formed the Faculty of Informatics and Quantitative Economics: Department of Operations Research and Mathematical Economics – Prof. Krzysztof Echaust, PhD, Prof. of the Poznań University of Economics and Business, the Department of Econometrics – Prof. Barbara Będowska-Sójka, the Department of Information Systems – Prof. Witold Abramowicz, the Department of Applied Mathematics – Prof. Marian Matłoka, the Department of Statistics – Prof. Grażyna Dehnel, PhD, Prof. of the Poznań University of Economics and Business, the Department of Information Technology – Prof. Krzysztof Walczak, PhD. The Institute’s primary objective is the development of scientific research in the areas of competence of its constituent Faculties, respecting the highest standards of international, national, regional and local competition and cooperation in close collaboration with academic, business and institutional partners in Poznań, Greater Poland, Poland and abroad. The Institute employs top-class specialists in computer science, operations research, econometrics, empirical finance, mathematical economics and statistics, with recognised authority in Poland and internationally, conducting extensive research funded by national and international governmental and non-governmental institutions.
