Department of Statistics
The Department of Statistics was created in 1993. It is one of six departments that make up the Institute of Informatics and Quantitative Economics at Poznan University of Economic and Business.Prof. Jan Paradysz, the first department head, outlined its research profile and set directions for development. Research interests pursued by department members include economic statistics (especially connected with entrepreneurship) and social statistics (labour market, population aging, foreign population, population mobility, disability, poverty, censuses).
About the Department
Our methodological expertise includes classical (survey sampling, multivariate statistics) as well non-classical, modern methods of data analysis (calibration, imputation, big data, smart data, web scraping, open data, real estate market analysis, categorical data analysis, random samples, non-random samples, model-based approach, missing data, non-response, statistical disclosure control, geomarketing, synthetic data, data integration). We specialise in the application of small area estimation techniques to data from sample surveys. We conduct advanced analyses using statistical tools such as SAS, SPSS, R, Python, Julia and provide support with data visualisation and statistical data reporting. We have broad experience in the area of statistical practice, thanks to our extensive cooperation with the World Bank, UNECE, Eurostat, Statistics Poland and the Statistical Office in Poznań.
