We study determinants of international competitiveness of companies, industries, sectors and regions, national economies and integration groupings taking into account the principles of sustainable development.

About the Department

Our research focuses on the internationalisation and globalisation strategies of companies, industries, regions and national economies, as well as the impact of economic policy on competitiveness at the micro-, meso- and macro-economic levels. Our mission is to undertake, stimulate and disseminate the results of studies on competitiveness. We contribute to better understanding in both the academic and business sectors of the prin-ciples of creating competitive and internationalisation strategies for companies and econo-mies respecting the priorities of sustainable development.

We are recognized experts in the microeconomic foundations of international competitive-ness of economies, determinants and measures of international competitiveness, and inter-nationalisation strategies of companies and economies. Confirmation of our expertise is pro-vided by the realised numerous scientific grants – funded by both national and international funds, often in international research consortia. We cooperate with the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness from Harvard Business School.

  • Reconfiguration of global value chains and their impact on the regionalisation of cooperation,
  • Reshoring, nearshoring, and friendshoring as strategies boosting companies’ competitive advantage,
  • Determinants and trends in the development of female entrepreneurship in Europe,
  • Determinants and trends in the development of entrepreneurship among migrants and refugees in Europe.
