Lecture by Prof. Alain Redslob
Throughout history, Europe has experienced waves of enlargement as well as phases of contraction that have posed countless challenges. As its construction has continually undergone its share of ups and downs, we will begin with a retrospective before examining the major treaties: the accession treaties that defined the scope of the European Union, the founding treaties, and the amending treaties that have led to major achievements. We will then discuss the fundamental issues facing it today: enlargements, institutions, military clashes, trade conflicts, and spiritual upheavals.
