Presentation of the OECD 2022 Economic Survey of Poland with the participation of the Deputy Secretary General of the OECD
On February 28, the Poznań University of Economics and Business hosted a prestigious conference devoted to the presentation of OECD 2022 Economic Survey of Poland. The report for 2022 was personally presented by the Deputy Secretary General of the OECD – Yoshiki Takeuchi, who came to Poznań to participate in the conference.
The “2022 ECONOMIC SURVEY OF POLAND” report aims to provide a multi-faceted assessment of the condition of the Polish economy. The authors analyze and comment on basic growth indicators, the financial system, the labor market and wage dynamics, as well as the condition of the small and medium-sized companies sector.
As emphasized by Prof. Paweł Mikołajczak from PUEB, report indicates a low level of digital skills among adult Poles, especially among older and less educated people. There is a shortage of specialized employees in the ICT sector, crucial for the progress of digitization in public administration and small businesses. Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the overall threat level has increased, so it is imperative to ensure the government’s resilient digital infrastructure.
The report also points to the problem of inflation in Poland and the risk of its persistence. Therefore, monetary policy should be further tightened, while maintaining its flexibility depending on developments.
After the presentation of the report, a discussion panel was held, in which, apart from the Deputy Secretary General of the OECD, participated: Aleksander Surdej,Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the OECD, Andrzej Byrt, DH Poznań University of Economics and Business, Alina Jankowska- Brzóska, Vice President of Amica Group, Jadwiga Emilewicz, Member of Parliament. The discussion moderated by Prof. Maciej Żukowski, Rector of PUEB referred to challenges facing the Polish economy. The discussion referred to challenges facing the Polish economy. The conference ended with a expert session, during which academic lecturers: Prof. Paweł Marszałek, Prof. Beata Woźniak-Jęchorek, Piotr Michoń, Piotr Trąpczyński, prof. Ewa Mińska-Struzik and Prof. Krzysztof Walczak discussed the issues raised in the report, related to e.g. monetary and fiscal policy (policy mix), the labor market, the problem of aging society, digital transformation and the expansion of Polish companies abroad. The session was chaired by Prof. Marek Ratajczak.
