PUEB Day 2022

On May 19, 2022 the University celebrated its holiday. The day before, on May 18, 2022, there was a concert in support of Ukraine performed by the BIG BAND AM Paderewski, with the participation of vocalists from the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. The PUEB auditorium was filled with well-known Polish songs in a new arrangement. The young artists also presented a traditional Ukrainian song. Among the invited guests were citizens of Ukraine staying at a dormitory run by PUEB in the sports hall at 9 Dożynkowa St. in Poznań.

 

The vernissage of posters on economic issues prepared by students of the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznań (UAP) was organized for the 12th time. At the vernissage the works participating in the competition organized under the auspices of the Rector of PUEB and the Rector of UAP were presented. This year, students of the Poster II studio presented an artistic interpretation of the phenomenon of the loss of value of money over time and its effects on the economy. The level of the submitted works was very high. The jury awarded the following persons:

  • Aleksandra Kortas (1st prize, PLN 1500),
  • Antoni Grodzki (2nd prize, PLN 1000),
  • Leonard Dutkiewicz (3rd prize, PLN 500).

The exhibition titled “Stagnation – Inflation – Stagflation, or Prosperity Depreciation” can be viewed in the lobby of CEUE PUEB.

 

During the debate entitled “Happiness in Misfortune – The Decalogue of Economics,” the interlocutors referred to ten principles of economics as presented in the book by Gregory N. Mankiw and Mark P. Taylor, and in particular to rationality. They also discussed the concept of happiness by analyzing it from an economic and philosophical perspective. The following academic and business representatives spoke:

  • prof. dr hab. Piotr Banaszyk, Head of the Department of Logistics at PUEB, author of numerous scientific publications, whose research interests revolve around issues of strategic management and organization, and management theory;
  • prof. dr hab. Jan Hartman of Jagiellonian University – philosopher, bioethicist, publicist and publisher. His academic work includes metaphilosophy, philosophical heuristics, philosophy of politics, ethics and bioethics; he has developed an original project for the so-called “theory of the neutrum”; he regularly publishes essays in Polityka;
  • dr hab. Piotr Michoń, prof. PUEB, of the Department of Labor and Social Policy at PUEB, one of the few Polish scholars dealing with the economics of happiness, author of numerous publications and a widely read blog on social psychology;
  • Maja Rutkowska – Group HR Director at Amica SA, PUEB graduate with extensive professional experience, co-owner of KKS Lech Poznań.
  • On the afternoon of May 19, PUEB employees feasted at a picnic held on the picturesque grounds of the Culture Barracks at 62 Matejki St. in Poznań. The beautiful weather created perfect opportunities to relax and strengthen contacts, as well as visiting the buildings of the former military barracks.
