The European Sport Economics Association (ESEA) brings together researchers and practitioners interested in the economics of sport. Through its annual conference, PhD workshop and research activities, ESEA supports scholarly exchange, high-quality research and the development of an international community in sport economics.

In 2027, the 18th ESEA Conference on Sport Economics will be hosted by the Poznań University of Economics and Business in Poznań, Poland. The conference will provide an international forum for presenting and discussing current research, new ideas and emerging challenges in sport economics.

Researchers are invited to submit abstracts for the 18th Annual Conference of the European Sport Economics Association (ESEA), to be held at the Poznań University of Economics and Business on August 25–27, 2027. The conference offers an international forum for the exchange of ideas and for discussing recent developments, challenges and opportunities in sport economics.

Submissions are welcome from all areas of sport economics, including theoretical, empirical and conceptual research. Both completed studies and research in progress may be submitted. Manuscripts that have already been accepted for publication should not be submitted. The official language of the conference is English.

Abstract Submission

Authors are invited to submit an extended abstract of no more than three pages, using 12-point font and 1.5 line spacing. The abstract should clearly present the research question or theoretical framework, the methodology and the main findings or expected contribution of the study. In-text citations should follow APA 7 style; a separate reference list is not required.

Submission deadline: 31 March 2027

All abstracts will be evaluated through a double-blind review process. Accepted abstracts are expected to be included in the official conference Book of Abstracts. If the number of submissions passing the review process exceeds the number of available presentation slots, the organisers may limit acceptance to one abstract per submitting author. The presenting author is expected to attend the conference and present the paper.

Best Young Researcher Paper Award (BYRPA)

Graduate students may apply for the Best Young Researcher Paper Award by indicating their interest at the time of abstract submission. To be eligible, the applicant should be a graduate student and the lead author of the paper, and should present the paper at the conference.

Full paper requirements and deadline: maximum 30 pages, including references, tables and figures, APA 7 style; deadline 1 July 2027.

The 18th ESEA Conference on Sport Economics will be hosted by the Poznań University of Economics and Business (PUEB), located in the centre of Poznań, Poland. Detailed information on conference rooms and on-site arrangements will be provided closer to the event.

Poznań is well connected with other Polish and European cities by rail and air. Detailed travel information will be added to the conference website, including guidance for participants arriving via Poznań Główny railway station and Poznań-Ławica Airport.

A list of recommended hotels in different price categories will be published on the conference website. Where possible, information on negotiated conference rates or booking codes will be added once arrangements with hotels are confirmed.
