Prof. Daron Acemoğlu Awarded Doctor Honoris Causa by Poznań University of Economics and Business

On 12 May 2026, representatives of the doctoral community had the honour of participating in the ceremony awarding the honorary doctorate (doctor honoris causa) of the Poznań University of Economics and Business to Nobel Prize-winning economist Daron Acemoğlu.

The ceremony took place at the Aula UEP, al. Niepodległości 10 in Poznań, as part of the University’s 100th anniversary celebrations. The event recognized Professor Acemoğlu’s exceptional contribution to economics, particularly in the areas of political economy, economic development, institutions, and social inequality.

During the ceremony, Professor Acemoğlu delivered an inspiring lecture on the role of artificial intelligence and its potential to strengthen the position of workers in the modern economy.

We are grateful for the opportunity to witness such an important academic event and celebrate the achievements of one of the most influential economists of the 21st century.

Among the doctoral student participants were Piotr Dudziak, Kacper Zielak, Zuzanna Puweł, and Błażej Foltyniewicz.
