ScienceDirect Database – new ScienceDirect AI feature

We encourage you to use ScienceDirect AI, an artificial intelligence-based tool that assists you while browsing for information in full-text articles and book chapters from the ScienceDirect database’s resources.

To access the feature, please select the ScienceDirect AI tab from the ScienceDirect main page.

ScienceDirect AI functions:

  1. Natural language search

The user can ask questions using ordinary expressions. The system, on top of the keywords, analyses the logic of the query, searching for appropriate, context-based and extensive information in full texts – the results being more detailed than those retrieved from traditional browsers.

  2. Reading assistant

When working with an article or a book chapter, you can see an interactive assistant tool appearing beside the text. This function allows you to ask questions related to said document, quickly summarize a selected fragment, point and save key findings – you can ask follow-up questions to continue the research dialogue.

  3. Research comparison

The user is able to compare different researches. ScienceDirect AI can extract the most relevant data from multiple articles and summarize them in a concisely structured table – publication by publication, research by research.

  4. Full transparency and verifiability

Each response generated by ScienceDirect AI includes citations and direct reference links to the resource used. The tool pinpoints the exact fragment of the text it referenced while answering your question.

The purchase of the tool was financed by the project: UEP for Economy 5.0: Regional Initiative – Global Effects (RIGE).
