1. The most pivotal moment in your career?

In 2016, I joined Amazon Web Services (AWS), the fastest-growing cloud and artificial intelligence company in the world. Working at AWS not only placed me at the heart of the technology and AI revolution but also helped me reach new professional heights. The role and the environment pushed me out of my comfort zone, tested my ability to operate in a fast-paced setting, and instilled in me a relentless pursuit of the highest standards. This experience undoubtedly shaped and defined my career.

2. Your greatest professional achievement?

While at AWS, I worked with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), the largest bank in the region. For over five years, I supported the bank in migrating and modernizing its key systems to the AWS cloud and implementing artificial intelligence solutions, which revolutionized its operations and customer service. CBA became not only the fastest-growing AWS customer in Australia but also the most innovative bank, committed to supporting the financial wellbeing of the Australian community.

3. If you could go back to the beginning, but with all the knowledge and experience you’ve gained, what would you do differently?

When I first arrived in Sydney, I started working in the tech industry with no prior experience in the new environment or country. Although I adapted quickly, it took years for me to fully understand the key elements of career success: consciously building a personal brand through coaching, mentorship, and expanding one’s professional network. While I ultimately reached my goals, I regret not focusing on these aspects much earlier.

4. Your formula for success. How to achieve it? What to focus on? What to avoid? Which skills gained during your studies at UEP proved most valuable?

Thanks to UEP, I had the opportunity to study abroad (in Portugal and France), which opened my eyes to new possibilities and made me realize the world truly is full of opportunities. My recipe for success is believing in yourself and your abilities. It’s important not to be afraid of taking on new challenges, but also not to fear setbacks and failures. From my own experience, apparent failures often opened doors to exciting new opportunities and career achievements.

5. What advice would you give to current students at the beginning of their careers?

Your career is your personal responsibility – only you decide its direction. Don’t be afraid to make your presence known, actively seek new growth opportunities, and step outside your comfort zone. Surround yourself with and be inspired by people you admire and respect – and don’t hesitate to ask them for mentorship. Most importantly, know your worth and stay true to yourself – authenticity is your greatest strength and the very quality that sets you apart on your professional journey.
