Icelandic inspiration for sustainability education
From 19 to 25 July 2026, Magdalena Andrałojć and Dorota Strózik took part in the training course “Eco-Explorers: Inspiring Sustainability Awareness in Iceland’s Classroom with a School Visit” in Reykjavík.
The course helped them develop their teaching skills and deepen their understanding of the green transition. They explored Icelandic examples of how sustainability education can be combined with local cultural heritage and environmental protection. The programme also covered ecosystems and renewable energy, as well as practical projects that can be adapted for teaching.
The insights they gained can inform teaching that develops students’ critical thinking and encourages social and environmental responsibility.
The training was funded by FERS under the project “Comprehensive programme for enhancing the qualifications and competences of academic staff and doctoral students at PUEB” (Task 7).
