The “One Region, Wide Horizons – Euraxess Wielkopolska” NAWA project

Information about the NAWA project “One Region, Wide Horizons – Euraxess Wielkopolska”

The funding received for the activities planned within the project amounts to PLN 829,995.

The project is carried out from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2028.

The PUEB is the project coordinator.

The project aims to develop a friendly institutional environment in Wielkopolska for doctoral students, researchers, and their families coming from abroad to carry out research, cooperate or work in higher education institutions or universities in this province.

Its implementation is based on an analysis of the current situation in the region and the implementation of solutions that strengthen cooperation and internationalization of higher education and science institutions within the Euraxess – Wielkopolska network.

For academic and administrative staff, the project offers a wide range of training courses and workshops, as well as other opportunities to develop language, soft, and management skills in an international environment.

It will contribute to a significant increase in the competitiveness of Wielkopolska on the international academic and scientific market.

The project is funded by the National Agency for Academic Exchange as part of the NAWA-EURAXESS network program (2024)

The NAWA-EURAXESS Network program is financed by the European Union within the project entitled: “Support for higher education and research institutions in serving foreigners and Poles going abroad”, project number: FERS.01.05-IP.08-0003/24  (FERS – NAWA projects).

Project activities:

1. Development of a strategy for the functioning of the Euraxess-Wielkopolska network:

The purpose is to increase the number of institutions forming the network and to strengthen the activities of institutions already involved in the Region that support the development of services for doctoral students and researchers from abroad.

The entity responsible for this task is the Poznań University of Economics and Business.

2. Expansion of the Euraxess-Wielkopolska network to include further scientific institutions in the province.

The activity will be fulfilled by the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences HomePage

3. Cooperation with public administration in the region, this task aims to facilitate the stay of foreign researchers in the following areas: legalization of residence, healthcare, taxes, social care for their family members, and education of children.

The PUEB is responsible for the implementation of this task.

4. Intercultural and project management training for project participants.

This activity will enable the development of managerial, intercultural, and communication skills of the Project Coordinator and Project Partners, and is mainly addressed to the academic staff and administration of the Network.

5. Organization of English language courses for network members.

The main goal is to improve communication and enable effective, and barrier-free communication in an international environment. This will enhance the quality of service offered to foreign researchers.

Entity responsible for the task: PUEB.

6. Organization of soft skills training.

As part of this task, a program will be implemented to develop the soft skills of administrative staff.

These skills include: building self-confidence, resilience to challenges, coping with stress, and mental health, etc.

The entity responsible for the task is Poznań University of Medical Sciences Uniwersytet Medyczny im. Karola Marcinkowskiego w Poznaniu

7. Intercultural and language training (Polish survival).

There are intensions to organize a comprehensive intercultural training program and a Polish language course for foreign scientists, which will help them adapt to the region and improve their well-being in their new environment.

The task will be carried out by the Poznań University of Economics and Business.

8. Integration meetings for scientists and their families.

During the project, we plan to organize the following integration events: adaptation days, outdoor cinema, a picnic for employees and their families, and coffee and tea meetings aimed at building relationships and cooperation.

9. Consultations on professional development.

These consultations will support researchers at various stages of their professional careers and will include expert lectures, interactive workshops, and consultations with specialists from various fields. They will cover, among other things:

  • Career path management, finances, effective adaptation to the labor market;
  • Principles of research project financing and the financial possibilities of various scientific projects;
  • Adapting your CV to a career outside of science: how to mentally survive the transition from science to business.
  • Exchange of experiences/consultations with business representatives within the UEP Partner Club

PUEB will carry out this activity.

10. Development of promotional materials for the Euraxess-Wielkopolska network.

The Poznań University of Technology is responsible for this activity and will develop brochures, videos, and gadgets promoting the Euraxess-Wielkopolska network. This will enable the dissemination of the network’s activities and increase the number of its participants and partners

11. Promotion of the network on the Internet, for which all project members are responsible.

12. Organization of informational and promotional meetings in the region.

These meetings will aim to increase the mobility of scientists by presenting Wielkopolska as an attractive and friendly region, providing reliable information about the network and its beneficial impact on improving the service, and developing a common system of support for scientists.

13. Participation in promotional meetings in Poland.

These meetings will focus on expanding the network to include additional scientific institutions in Wielkopolska. Regular participation in events will enable the exchange of good practices among network participants, for which the Poznań University of Economics and Business is responsible.

14. Participation in promotional meetings abroad.

Thanks to these meetings, the Euraxess-Wielkopolska network will become more recognizable internationally, which will increase academic mobility in the region and attract new network members. The PUEB is responsible for carrying out this task.
